BEFRIENDERS

Are you a good communicator, would you enjoy doing social activities on a one to one basis with someone who may be homeless or have their own tenancy but are socially isolated, may have had substance misuse and/or offending backgrounds?  We are looking for both male and female volunteers who will require to successfully complete our 2 days Befriender training, a P.V.G. (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) and 2 reference checks.  Meetings are between 1-4 hours a week and a 1 year commitment to this role is required.

CHARITY SHOP

Interested in learning skills within a professional retail setting, or utilising the skills and experience which you already possess? If so, why not consider volunteering within our busy Charity Shop.  From sorting, checking and preparing donations for sale to window and internal shop displays, dealing with and serving customers and working as part of a team with other volunteers and staff.  A 2 hour taster session is initially offered and on successful completion a regular shift would be agreed with the Shop Manager.

DAY CENTRE

Would you like to work alongside our Cook as a volunteer kitchen assistant at our Day Centre assisting with food preparation, serving of lunches and refreshments, general kitchen duties in keeping with Health & Hygiene standards and also interact with Service Users accessing our Day Centre services?   An initial taster session 10.00am until 2.00pm (Monday to Friday) is offered then on successful completion a regular shift would be agreed with the Cook.

HOSTEL

Do you have experience and enjoy cooking then why not consider becoming a volunteer Cook in our 16 bed temporary accommodation hostel?  Working from a pre-set menu to prepare, cook and serve evening meals for up to 18 people and ensure the kitchen meets Health & Hygiene standards. A Current Food Hygiene certificate is required and a Basic Disclosure Check will be done.   An initial taster session is offered 2.30pm until 6.00pm (Monday to Sunday) then on successful completion a regular shift would be agreed with the Senior Worker.

SHORT TERM VOLUNTEERS

Our Day Centre provides an opportunity to volunteer in our kitchen and also to mingle with Service Users who join us on Christmas Day & New Year’s Day.  Volunteers will assist our volunteer Cook with the food preparation, serving of lunches and refreshments, any other general kitchen duties and interact with our Service Users accessing our Day Centre either on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day.   This is always a very popular time when people wish to volunteer so it is advisable to enquire about this opportunity as early in the year as possible.
